Leong Aesthetics: Expertise That Elevates Your Results

Dr. Paul Leong, a double board-certified Facial Plastic Surgeon with elite training at Yale, the University of Pittsburgh, and Oregon Health Sciences University, oversees every injectable treatment. Guided by his philosophy of authenticity and artistry, we offer Sculptra in Pittsburgh because it goes beyond temporary filling, rebuilding your skin’s structure from within. Most importantly, Sculptra is the first FDA-approved poly-L-lactic acid injectable, which aligns with our mission to prioritize safety, compassion, and integrity.

The Science Behind Sculptra

Sculptra is a biostimulatory injectable made from poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA-SCA), which is a safe and biodegradable substance that stimulates your body’s natural collagen production.

Unlike traditional fillers that only provide temporary volume, Sculptra works beneath the surface to gradually restore your skin’s foundation. Here’s how it works:

  • As collagen naturally decreases by about 1% each year after the age of 20, Sculptra helps replenish this lost support
  • Its microparticles activate fibroblasts, which are the cells responsible for collagen growth

Clinical studies show that visible improvements can begin as early as one month after treatment, with results lasting up to two years, giving you the signature “Sculptra Glow.”

Sculptra FAQ

Does Sculptra treatment hurt?

Most patients find treatment very tolerable. A topical numbing cream and lidocaine mixed with the solution help minimize discomfort. At Leong Aesthetics, we also use blunt-tip cannulas to reduce pain and bruising.

What are the risks or side effects of Sculptra?

The most common side effects include temporary redness, swelling, tenderness, bruising, or small lumps at injection sites. Rare but serious risks include nodule formation or vascular complications, which is why it’s critical to choose a highly trained, board-certified injector.

Who should avoid Sculptra?

Sculptra is not recommended for those under 18, pregnant or breastfeeding individuals, or anyone with allergies to its ingredients, active skin infections, or a history of keloid or hypertrophic scarring.
